The Additives R&amp;D group is responsible for development of new high value rheology modifier, dispersant, and surfactant materials targeting waterborne coatings. Developing a quantitative understanding of complex ingredient interactions and material structure/property relationships in complex coating formulations is a key goal. The Research Technologist will work in a team-based project environment to evaluate new additives in complex formulations to determine the overall performance effects in relevant coating systems. Both traditional bench-scale and advanced high-throughput formulation and testing methods will be utilized.
Critical responsibilities include:
* 
Making bench-scale coating formulations, creating coatings on various substrates, and evaluating multiple performance properties on both the liquid formulation and final coating.

Completing high throughput formulation and testing of coating systems.
* 
Close collaboration with the synthesis and overall project team to share performance evaluation results and plan future activities.
* 
Documentation of results in lab books and technical reports.

Education and Experience:

An associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field.

To accomplish this, the role needs a deep knowledge of the SAP/R2 and MySAP applications suites and a good understanding of a Mainframe and an Active Directory environment. The incumbent understands and has experience with request and role management in these environments in and has basic knowledge of the ITIL framework. In addition a good understanding and/or experience with Dow’s work processes such as Supply Chain, Record &amp; Report, Manage Information, Environment, Health and Safety etc is key to a fast and thorough understanding of the role. On top of these technical and work process skills the ideal incumbent has strong interpersonal skills and is results driven as frequent interaction with multiple I/S colleagues and partners will be needed to further develop the environment and to resolve issues in the environment. 

The overall accountability for the Operational SME can be broken down in the following primary responsibilities:
 
User Interface and request services : Functional responsibility for IAM related application services, predominantly supported through the RequestCenter service catalog and IBM Service Management (ISM) toolset.
Access Control Liaison: This role interfaces with the Application SME’s and Profile Development and Implementation team to ensure the Application Access Control services integrate well into the overall IAM environment and compliance with Internal Controls is achieved and maintained.

This position is for anElectrical Engineering studentto provide product development support to the Dow Solar Solutions Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) team in an effort to help screen and identify potential BIPV module &amp; system solutions. 

The coop will characterize the electrical performance of BIPV components, modules, and systems in both indoor and outdoor test setups. Characterization will include assistance with experimental design, performing the testing, and analysis of results with the support of the supervisor. The results will be used determine design options and to estimate reliability and performance. 

Additional job activities will include ownership of an outdoor electrical characterization PV Test Bed, along with experimental results; outdoor IV curve tracing; indoor accelerated tests; and test coupon preparation (cell prep, soldering, part builds)

Since this is innovation intensive work, the employee is encouraged to participate in idea generation and interpretation of results. The co-op will be a member of fast moving development team focused on an exciting new technology area. 


Job duties for the Local Student Program include entry-level tasks, therefore, we are seeking candidates who have less than 3 years of professional work experience.
* Minimum of 1 to 2 year commitment to the program

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

The Dow Chemical Company located in Midland, MI is seeking qualified individuals for Security Student Officer Co-op opportunities. 

The co-op will provide security at the Plant and process the flow of personnel and materials at the gate locations of the Midland area corporate, manufacturing, and research locations.

Candidates must also be able to relate and communicate professionally with customers, and show ability to change priorities, and handle multiple tasks. Teamwork and cooperation, as well as independent initiative are critical.

Must be majoring in either Criminal Justice or Fire Science.



Job duties for the Local Student Program include entry level-tasks, therefore, we are seeking candidates who have less than 3 years of professional work experience.
* Minimum of 1 to 2 year commitment to the program
* All candidates that receive a job offer will be required to:
* Pass a Substance Abuse (drug) screen and a medical evaluation
* Pass a background check

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
* Students must be enrolled at an accredited LOCAL College or University with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
* Students must have and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.700 or higher on a 4.000 scale to met the requirement of Dow's Local Student Program
* Students must enroll and successfully complete 6 semester credits or more during the fall and winter terms to remain eligible to participate in the Student Program
* Students must commit to working between 20 - 30 hours per week during school session

Dow AgroSciences is seeking to fill the position ofFermentation Technical Services Leaderfor Harbor Beach, MI.

Background information on Site and position:

Harbor Beach is located on Lake Huron about 1.5 hours east of Midland, Michigan. The site manufactures the naturally occurring insecticides, Spinosyns, for Dow AgroSciences. The plant operates a fermentation process to grow the organism which produces the
insecticide coupled to an extraction process for product separation, purification, and packaging.

This opportunity offers the successful candidate the opportunity for exposure to and participation in many aspects to site operations that they normally wouldn't see on a larger site (responsible care, community relations, HR, site emergency manager, etc)

The job has a standard 5 day per week work schedule. The Harbor Beach plant operates 24 hours per day seven days a week, and as a member of the Harbor Beach operations technical support staff, the flexibility to provide technical support as needed after hours and on weekends is a requirement of the role. Periodic weekend &amp; holiday technical support on-call is also a job requirement.

The Harbor Beach organization is an empowered organization and the selected candidate will be a member of the day support team as well as many of the empowered teams.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must be willing to spend time outside their office - in the control room and/or field, shops, etc to understand issues, assist with troubleshooting, and to help solve day to day problems.

Assignment Scope:

DAS is looking for a senior fermentation expert to lead the operation and development of the fermentation based products (e.g. Spinosyns) at the Harbor Beach manufacturing site in Michigan.

This individual would have technical oversight responsibility for all the fermentation operations at Harbor Beach. This would include all components of the manufacturing flow, these being:

·     Raw material acquisition and storage
·     Inoculum preparation
·     Seed tank operation 
·     Fermentation operation
·     Microbiological and analytical laboratory

Specific to this assignment there would be the following responsibilities:

* 
Technical mentoring/coaching for all employees associated with fermentation in Harbor Beach
* Ensure proper operational protocol for the process
* Ensure that the process operates consistently and is meeting its quality and business objectives by identifying and reducing factors which increase process variability and adversely impact process performance.
* Provide technical support for campaign turnarounds, to ensure the correct transition of protocols and process control logic to operations. 
* Work closely with resources in HB fermentation pilot plant and Indianapolis based R&amp;D fermentation group on projects to improve performance and develop the process further.
* Develop a portfolio of process changes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
* Partner with IT to develop systems for efficient data management, data mining and process monitoring.   
* Provide regular technical updates on manufacturing performance to the leadership team.
* Prepare campaign summary reports and technical documents which describe major process improvements or process troubleshooting activities.


·     B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology or Biotechnology is required.
·     10-15 years of experience in large scale fermentation is preferred
